My thoughts on Casey Anthony and the Trial
This is a very confusing case.
duh, right, I think we have all figured that out.
In my opinion, with my limited knowledge, the only thing that makes sense and fits the facts is that Casey did do it on purpose and did use duct tape to keep Caylee quiet or kill her.
If the murder was not completely planned then Casey at the very least and just as bad -bound her, silenced her and put her in the trunk so she could party and came back to find her dead. Then being a sociopath, didn't feel anything was her fault (oh great, look at the trouble Caylee is causing me ) and not caring that Caylee was dead, just left the body stay in the trunk until it got in her way (smell) and dumped it like it was nothing. Which is probably what it was to her.
The only people she thought would even care was her mom and dad. So she avoided them.
It was not an accident staged as a kidnap/murder. If that were so she'd want the staged body found. She did not want the body found so she just did not report her missing. To have any hope of a staging being successful you would need to act concerned from the get go and report that the child wandered off or she was playing outside and disappeared.
She did not report that the child wandered off (thus allowing her to be found as the victim of a pedophile or such) because whatever Casey did to her was so bad and so obvious that she wanted the body and evidence destroyed.
George didn't find the body and didn't know until july 15, I think he then pretty much figured Caylee was dead but ... what could he do? nothing but hope it was an accident. He tried to get Casey to help and talk to police but she would not. George has problems, seemed fairly alienated from the family, and was probably unhappy with his employment. He could not discipline Casey because Cindy protected her. George is a human being who is a contradiction. At times he seems smart but then was taken in the the Nigerian scam? I do not get that!
He did try to go around Cindy & Casey and do the right thing in finding out what happened to Caylee but when it became obvious it was not a plain accident. He too began to deny and cover.
Lee was just a young guy without much contact with his family anymore. Just doing what guys do. He was only 25 when this happened but people act like he shoulda done this, and shoulda done that and that he blah, blah.... Lee is just a brother with a nutcase sister. I think he handled it well. He was often seen corralling his parents away from protesters and media.
I have wondered why Casey's sociopath behavior started. When it became criminal & why.
I can't help but wonder if Casey was raped... and became pregnant,,, thus her denial of the pregnancy to herself and family until it was unavoidable. Thus no father for Caylee for can be identified and various answers for who the father was. Did a rape in late 2004 trigger a big change in Casey?
Jesse said Casey wanted the child and told him no to giving it up for adoption. So she must have intended to love Caylee and raise Caylee. Or did she just enjoy the extra attention and care paid to her during her pregnancy? And then enjoy the control she had as the mother and controller of her parent's grandchild?
Cindy has been vilified for not taking Caylee away from Casey. She could not have. As we saw at the beginning of the trial all Casey's friends said she was a great mom and there was a bond between her and Caylee.... Cindy would have gotten no where in court.
I think the trial is going well for the state. I think Jose B. makes a bad impression.
My fear now is that so much is coming into evidence that the jury may be losing track of what is going on and what the timeline is. Those of us who have the information at our fingertips and who know the timeline and have read so much can follow it fairly well. But in postings I have noticed myself and others who seem to know a lot about the case get several of the players & facts mixed up in comments.
I warble back and forth in my conviction of whether she did it on purpose or not because it just seems so stupid and senseless. But then when I look at it nothing else makes sense. The defense's crazy opening statement makes Casey and Jose both look like sociopaths.
I wonder how successful the defense will be in making George and Cindy look like crazy people by using the period of time that they were doing everything wrong and acting so badly in order to protect their crazy daughter.
I wonder if Casey knows that she is not normal. I wonder if she can feel the lack of understanding and emotion. The way she watches the questioner then the witness, back and forth, back and forth, is like she is trying to learn by the people's reactions. Trying to figure out why everyone messed up her life and why anyone care's.
She still acts like she was "arrested on a whim".
If Casey ever takes the stand one thing I have noticed to look for. When she likes she answers immediately and with conviction. When she answers with a real fact she pauses thinks and then answers. I hope she takes the stand.
